Vertical Mouse Ergonomics
The (palm down) pronation of the forearm required to use a standard mouse can over time lead to pain and discomfort in the shoulders, elbows, forearms and hands whilst the upright nature of the vertical mouse promotes a neutral, handshake position which prevents this. This improved grip also promotes whole arm movement using large the muscle groups of the upper arm and shoulder which are less susceptible to strain than those of the wrist and fingers. The vertical grip also reduces the risk of Carpal Tunnel Syndrome which can be caused by pressure on delicate tendons on the underside of the wrist being in contact with the worksurface.
